Daša, a succsesful entrepeneur, returns to Croatia to take care of her dying mother after years of working abroad, learning to value her family and take the wheel as the new head of the household.

Young biologist Marta Medved comes to the small town of Veliki Dabar to investigate the murder of a large bear, whose body has been discovered before the mayor's holiday home. Her arrival will suddenly wake up the sleepy highland town and its collection of seemingly normal residents, each with secrets of their own, including Marta's ex-husband Mauro and his agressive brother Mišel. To get to the bottom of the mystery at hand, Marta has to join forces with inspector Bolf, a kind hearted, but clumsy law enforcement officer, but, unbeknownst to both of them, they'll stumble upon a grand conspiracy that, in one way or another, involves the entire town.

Maša travels from a big city to a small rural community searching for a man, however, she instead runs into Živka, a local who tells her that he won't be in the village for the next few days. Whilst staying there Maša is roped into helping Živka with her chores and the two women quickly bond.
