A story about King Midas, famous for his boundless greed.

The Tatars invaded the Kraków castle of Princess Kinga. Her courtiers perform spells to repel attacks and save Kinga. Fortunately, Kinga will manage to escape the chase, and a Tatar remains in Krakow as Lajkonik.

A boy learns to skate on a frozen lake and becomes fascinated by the iceboats gathered there for training. Eager to try one himself, he secretly climbs aboard and sets off for a ride. The film features saxophone music by Zbigniew Namysłowski.
