Set among the mountains of southern Sardinia, Zustissia reconstructs the 1991 triple homicide that led to Zuncheddu being sentenced to life imprisonment. He spent 33 years in prison before being definitively acquitted on 26 January 2024, following a retrial initiated by lawyer Mauro Trogu.

There is a connection between the two cases, but no one knows yet. Sara, a successful writer and friend of the girl, decides to return to her childhood places to find out what happened. She will thus be forced to confront the demons of a forgotten past.

20-year-old Marco is remarkably attuned to the suffering of people everywhere. He writes poetry but turns to drugs and drink to achieve “the forgetting”, that unconscious state that is impenetrable to his existential angst and other fears. He’s fleeing pain but above all, he’s fleeing from himself. When he goes to work for the cleaners’ cooperative at Bambin Gesù Hospital, he’s sure that this experience, the contact with sick children, will be the death of him.
