His wife and daughter live in Berlin, just six hours away by train, but he's been traveling around Europe for 10 years and hesitates to even send a birthday card to his daughter. One day, he finds the bag of a woman, Yola (Eva Gabriluk), who has been pickpocketed, and the two become close. Another chance encounter with a delinquent young man, Mihau (Pavogiu Bourcik), brings them together, and they become an important part of Kim's life. Through Yola, Kim reconnects with lost feelings of love, and the always-flirtatious and unruly Mihau reminds him of his own restless youth...

This sumptuously photographed period drama is set in 1791 Vienna. Maximilian Bardo, an opportunistic 18-year old Viennese man with aspirations to rise above his bourgeois upbringing, looks for a chance to shoehorn himself into the nobility. His hopes lead him to the castle of a wealthy inventor, Alexander Plant. It is here that a strange story is played out, as Maximilian, full of naive illusions and innocent ideals of what it means to be wealthy and noble, quickly loses his innocence. Falling prey to the jaded aristocrats in residence, he is cruelly initiated into their decadent games.

Attractive Ewa is bored with her life, in which there is no room for anything but work, and longs for true love. Pragmatic Paul is completely consumed by the occupation through which he achieved financial success. The trip was supposed to improve relations between spouses, to revive extinguished feelings. Unfortunately, the man has to interrupt his vacation to finalize a lucrative contract. A newly met elderly man will be the one to help the spouses get closer.
