NRReeling from a messy breakup, a woman’s understanding of the world, and how to find happiness in it, is fundamentally altered by three people she meets in her local coffee shop. A tightly written, dreamy Australian arthouse film, The Song of Colour is a moving celebration of kindness, of real connection in an increasingly isolated world. For her, and for the audience, we get the sense that everything might actually be ok.

NRRick is nervous to meet his girlfriend Kristy's Dad for the first time. They just got engaged and he wants him to approve. But when they get to her Dad's small cattle property it's immediately obvious that things are awry - in fact Rick has just entered some kind of surreal nightmare world. Calling Kristy's Dad strange is an understatement, Kristy is acting just as bizarre, there's a creepy small boy next door in a cabaret mask, a dead tree with unsettling aura, and when Rick tries to escape he physically can't. When the weekend reaches its untimely end we then switch perspectives and see things from Kristy's Dad's point of view. Which is incredibly more bizarre.
