Pablo Casanueva
He studied Audiovisual Communication at the University of Burgos and at the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao. He begins his relationship with images through painting, continues with photography and unfolds in cinema. Of his work, the film 8 films on war (2022) stands out; the Xente exhibition (2022); the short films La sele construcción de la memoria (2018) and Escontra la casualidad (2018) or the musical short film Mensaxe pa la mocedá del Imperiu (2019). The video creation Conserveres (2017), the short film Al final de este viaje (2017), the documentary and web series El Cobayu (2018); the videocration Llaberintu (2019) or the documentary piece Filme urxente sobre La Plaza (2018). He became known in 2013 with the premiere of Bernabé, his first feature film and the first in the Asturian language.

NRI have searched for the traces and memories of my relatives in the places where they were after being repressed by Franco’s regime. I found myself on the borders, in the fields and in prisons with their history [and mine] suspended between the cracks, like ancient paintings that emerge after burning a church. Within the archive, the family and the audience, the images are once again looked at and the documents read. All of this has built an intergenerational bridge that unites me with my grandmother and her mother.

NRWe live with artificial lighting as if we wanted to completely banish the darkness. The exponential increase in light sources, driven by LED technology, has intensified an environmental problem known as light pollution. In recent years, numerous scientific studies have analyzed its harmful effects on living beings, revealing that the alteration of natural light cycles interferes with the development of animals and plants, in addition to affecting the circadian rhythm in humans among other issues. An example of organisms harmed by this reality, in addition to environmental pollution, are fireflies. It is increasingly difficult to have the opportunity to see the bioluminescence of these insects. Our artificial lights displace your natural ones.
