Forrest Taft is an environmental agent who works for the Aegis Oil Company in Alaska. Aegis Oil's corrupt CEO is the kind of person who doesn't care whether or not oil spills into the ocean or onto the land—just as long as it's making money for him.

A polar bear cub is befriended by Timko, a teenage Eskimo boy, while he is on a year’s self-imposed exile from his community, learning the art of the hunt. The soon-grown bear has to be returned to the wilds after it destroys the village’s meager supply of food.

Two Inuit children, stranded in the Arctic Circle, decide their only hope for survival is to cross the open tundra and try to reach their village.
