Mrs Malby's liking for a visitor leads to a meeting with four unconventional young people.

Doreen is obsessed with her fantasies about Danny Kaye , Barry Manilow and the Royal Family. When the Duke of Edinburgh visits the swimming baths where she works, it seems that her wildest dreams are about to be realised.

It's a new start for teenager Rita Patel and her family - new home, new school, new diary, new life. But their happiness is short-lived when racist skinheads attack the family and their home.
