Festive Kyiv meets victorious warriors. Among the noise and fun, Irina Gaeva feels especially lonely. No one is waiting for her, no one meets her at the station. All her family and friends died during the war. Confused, overwhelmed by grief, Irina decides to go to the village, in the battles for which her husband died.

The events of the film cover the story of the Kotsiubynsky family in the years 1912-1918, ending with the defeat of the Central Rada and the establishment of a Soviet republic in Ukraine in the spring of 1918.

About two days from the life of Anna Sergeevna Kuleshova, secretary of the rural district party committee.
