A former Francoist becomes a democrat after the Spanish Transition

After the death of the abbot of a small convent the two monks who are left discover among the papers of the passed away abbot letters from the mother of one of them indicating that he is the natural son of a landowner in Extremadura. In order to claim the legacy of his friend the monk who has lived outside the convent for some time plans their voyage to the property of his father picking up on their way his daughter and lover. Once in Extremadura things look a little different to what the plans say.

Antoñito is a bachelor who works in a cabaret as a clarinetist. He has put an advertisement in the newspaper, looking for a good and honest girl, and to which responds Rocío, who escapes from her native Córdoba to hide the embarrassment of her pregnancy. When she can no longer conceal that she is pregnant, Antoñito decides to give his name to the fruit of sin.

Don Juan Alcántara is ruined. He does not dare to confess it to the family, since the unanimous opinion of those who know him is that he is a weakling. His lack of character is remedied by his doctor - pretend that he is suffering from schizophrenia.
