After serving 10 years as punishment for carok (the practice of blood revenge with a sickle-shaped knife by the Madurese), Samsu helps his village fishermen’s co-op. Later, he resigns when he can’t get along with the investor, a beautiful rich widow, Lukitaningsih, who wants to gain personal profit from the co-op. As a result, he also quarrels with his lover, Pijah, and her father, Misral. Samsu then becomes a fisherman. Lukitaningsih tries to lure Samsu and the co-op to bull racing, which is one of Samsu’s skills. Seeing her efforts, Lukitaningsih’s driver, Dani, is envious and instigates Mahmud, against Samsu. Meanwhile, Misral and Pijah begin to understand Samsu so they change the co-op to the way that Samsu wants it to be, and they reconcile. Meanwhile, Mahmud loses the bull race and his carok challenge is answered with a friendly handshake instead.

Containing eight songs, the film is like TV variety show of music and singers. Charma, an architecture student, falls in love with Anita. Thanks to advice from Bagio Sumarto, an old artist, Charma manages to win Anita, even though her mother, who has a royal lineage, considers that an artist would lower the family’s prestige. It was a strange assumption, present at the time of the film’s production. Charma then helps Bagio realise his dream of building a village for artists by staging a big successful show. And Anita turns out to be the daughter of Bagio who has long been separated from his wife.

The story follows Erwin, who gets Peggy pregnant but refuses to take responsibility, claiming it was just a fling and citing Peggy’s past history of living together unmarried. Peggy refuses when asked to abort the pregnancy. Later, Erwin falls in love with Rosa, whom he also gets pregnant; this time he wants to take responsibility, but his parents disapprove. Eventually, Rosa dies while attempting to abort her pregnancy. Erwin then wishes to marry Peggy, but she refuses. Erwin pursues Peggy until he manages to win her back.
