Zerya is a woman in her 50s living in Paris. She had to leave the country for 22 years because of the chemical gas that Saddam Hussein dropped on the city of Halabja on March 16, 1988. She has lived in France for 30 years. While visiting an art exhibition in Paris, Zerya sees Magritte's painting "This is not an apple". This painting has a traumatic meaning for Zerya.

Retired engineer Refik provides funds for his Syrian caregiver, Nesrin, to flee Europe with her sons. Nesrin leaves her children with him and disappears. As Eid approaches, Refik grow despondent about Nesrin's whereabouts, while he and his children ensnared in disparate lives find themselves unable to avoid hurting one another.

It’s been years since Akın has been in and out of the hospital. He’s relentless, angry, and shell-shocked from being stuck in the system. Since his discharge, he’s well aware that his old life is long gone. He has become unable to leave his family house except for occasional visits to religious monuments in Istanbul. Hamza, after being released from prison, struggles to reconcile with his past while trying to build a new identity and life for himself. Meanwhile, Khaled, an Afghan refugee, survives by working as a shepherd in a small village, but his love for the village headman's daughter clashes with the rigid traditions of the community.
