Stepan Kayukov

American-dubbed, re-edited version of the 1953 Soviet fantasy film Sadko. Produced by Roger Corman's Filmgroup in 1962, it's shorter by 8 minutes, all music is removed, the names of characters are changed.

Lipa and Vera had been friends since childhood. Now, having finished their boarding school, each of them faces her own path in life. Tormented by poverty, Lipa is forced to marry the old, dull, and cruel Tolokonnikov. However, she cannot bear the tyranny of the cowardly official for long. Leaving her husband, she departs from Rasteryaeva Street. Vera's life turned out differently. Fleeing with a hussar, she spent several turbulent years, but, exhausted, she returned once again to Rasteryaeva Street. And nothing had changed there.

In the old Russian city of Novgorod, the merchants are feasting in a gorgeous palace and Sadko is bragging that he can bring to their land a sweet-voiced bird of happiness. They laugh at him, but he is offered help by the Ocean King's daughter, who is mesmerized by Sadko's singing and is in love with him. The hero is destined to visit many lands in his search of the bird.

This first co-production of the Soviet and Indian cinematographers is dedicated to the Tver merchant Afanasy Nikitin who in 1466-1472 blazed the trade way from Europe to India. The film is based on Nikitin’s travel notes. Starring in the film are popular Russian actor Oleg Strizhenov and India’s 1950s movie star Nargis.

According to the story of the same name by Aleksandr Avdeenko. The end of the 50s. Transcarpathia. Two saboteurs cross the border near Tissa. One dies during detention, and the second, under the guise of a front-line soldier Ivan Belograi, appears at the state farm and begins to look after Theresa, whom he met by correspondence. Frontier guard Andrei Smolyarchuk, in love with Theresa, is the first to suspect a spy and is trying to find out what his purpose is...

A black child rescued from by Russian sailors, whom they name Maksimka, having overcome his fear of white people, turns out to be an unusually smart and kind little boy. The rude drunken sailor Ivan Luchkin was especially attached to the boy. Once it was Maksimka who managed to save Luchkin from foreign recruiters of labor. For resourcefulness and courage, the young hero is enlisted in the team of the corvette and becomes the cabin boy of the Russian fleet.

It's a story about two of the most famous russian personages. They become friends, and then go along on the path of glory in parallel.

Soviet filmmaker Yuri Raisman once more combines political dogma with solid entertainment values in Dream of a Cossack (aka Cavalier of the Golden Star). The title character, played by future director Sergei Bondarchuk (and billed for obscure reasons as Semyon Bondarchuk), is an ex-soldier who returns home to the Kuban region, there to take up life as a farmer. Instead, he galvanizes the local citizenry into participating in a massive construction project, which will result in a new power station and canal. Thus does Raisman offer an prime example of Russian collectivism while making it seem as though it had sprung from individual initiative. Dream of a Cossack is based on a popular novel by S. Babayefsky.

The end of the 50s. The former head of the department Bulygin is sent from Moscow to Siberia to build a bridge across the Severnaya River. With him goes his family: his wife, son, daughter and his daughter's fiancé. Once an experienced builder, and now just an overbearing official, Bulygin cannot find common ground with the workers, and people begin to leave the construction site. However, after many experiences and mental trials Bulygin regains the features of a skillful leader.

At the amateur talent show the boy, accompanying himself on the accordion, sings a song about Moscow... The plot of the movie is based on the story of the director of the school about how this accordion, once belonging to a cadre worker who died during a demonstration in 1905, has been in many hands before it got to the guys.

About the life and heroic death of the old Bolshevik-Lugansk resident, participant in the civil war, Aleksandr Yakovlevich Parkhomenko. In 1918, capturing Ukraine, the German occupiers sought to use the Haidamaks, the White Guards and the Greens in their struggle. By order of Voroshilov, Aleksandr Parkhomenko from Lugansk arrives in Tsaritsyn. At the same time, the Germans launched an active offensive. The "red" battalions are poorly armed, however, Parkhomenko manages to raise them to the attack and put the enemy to flight.

The story takes place in Summer 1942, when a small force of Black Sea Fleet sailors was surrounded by German troops but broke out the encirclement.

My Universities is the last installment of Russian director Mark Donskoy's "Maxim Gorki" trilogy. Having endured a painful youth in My Childhood and a torturous sojourn as a serf in My Apprenticeship, future writer Gorki reaches maturity with an insatiable desire for personal and artistic freedom. Gorky goes to work in the shipyards and commisserates with the hard-drinking, philosophical dockworkers.

A story about the boys and their life during the WWII. Based on Lev Kassil book.

The story of the Bolshevik revolution through the eyes of a peasant who, as a soldier, gets caught up in the proceedings under the tutelage of Lenin.

Girlfriends Zoya, Natasha and Asya live in Petrograd. Before the Civil War, young heroines are aware of the social injustice of life. When the war begins, the girls are recorded by the orderlies of the working group to protect the Bolshevik Petrograd from the advance of the whites.

Civil war. Polish interventionists approach Berezina. The Red Army temporarily leaves Belarusian lands. Partisan detachments are organized, one of which is led by Bolshevik Stepan. His brother, who is in collusion with Polish spy Kapusta, is also in this detachment. With Kapusta's help, Polish lancers who have appeared in the village reach the partisan camp and capture the headquarters. Yanko manages to warn the headquarters about the movement of the White Poles, and the partisans are forced to retreat through impassable swamps. They manage to escape and join the Red Army, which occupies Minsk on July 11.

A film based on the life of the Russian scientist, Klement Timiriazev, who taught at Cambridge and Oxford and was awarded the Newton Mantle for his work. Timiriazev, one of the few outstanding Russian scientists who (publically) backed the Soviets in their revolutionary campaign, was later elected a delegate to the Leningrad Soviet by the sailors of the Baltic fleet. There he denounced his fellow scientists for failing to aid the Soviets and predicted that such aid would come.

A comedy about the life of a young married couple—Soviet students. Film has not survived.

A charity ball masquerade was held at a social club. In the midst of the festivities, an unknown man in a coachman's outfit and black mask caused a scandal. He shoved noble gentlemen out of the reading room and settled down at a table set for two ladies. Neither the club official's pleas nor the police officer's intervention had any effect on him. He only became more boisterous and mocked the outraged guests.

The official Podkolesin is tired of his bachelor life, but at the same time he is afraid to disrupt his usual routine. His friend Kochkarev arranges a marriage between Podkolesin and the merchant's daughter Agafia Tikhonovna. It takes a lot of effort for Kochkarev to persuade his friend to go to his bride. But at the last moment, Podkolesin, frightened by the impending changes, runs away.

The Soviet classic based on the biography of one of the main October Revolution leaders - Sergey Kirov.

The final part of trilogy about the life of a young factory worker, Maxim. Following the Russian Revolution, Maksim is appointed state commissar in charge of the national bank. With great efforts, he learns the complexies of the banking trade and begins to fight off sabotaging underlings. Dymba, now a violent enemy of the Republic, tries to rob a wine store but is arrested with Maksim's help. Maksim also exposes a conspiracy of a group of tsarist officers who prepare an attempt against Lenin. He then joins the Red Army in its fight against the German occupation.

Semyon Primak, in the direction of the regional committee, arrives in one of the small towns of Donbas and immediately enters into battle with the chief of the mine, Chub, who, in a situation of continuous assault, plays into the hands of the Trotskyites and bandits operating in the mine. Having received moral support from the new secretary, the best 'udarnik', shockworker Matvey Bobylev implements a new method of coal mining and, contrary to the intentions of the enemy group, finds a wide response among the miners of Donbas.

The second part of trilogy about the life of a young factory worker, Maxim. In July 1914, the Bolsheviks and Mensehviks compete for representation of the working-class in the Duma. Maksim, who just returned from exile, calls the workers to strike as a protest against the firing of six of their colleagues. The traitor Platon Dymba assaults Maksim, wounding him severely. When the strike unfolds the workers demonstrate by the thousands, the news of the outbreak of World War I suddenly arrives. Maksim gets drafted.

In the mid-19th century old-fashioned estate based on serfdom laws and traditions, tough and shrewd Arina Petrovna tries her best to make her realm prosper and even expand – despite unwillingness of her husband and three of her four children to lend helping hands. Ten years on, serfdom abolished, and now Porfiry-Yudishka, the epitome of a corrupt, cruel hypocrite, becomes the heir to the estate. Dullness and horrors of life, spent in destroying everybody around him, finally makes him to slowly realize things went somehow wrong. Half-mad, apparently, he goes to the cemetery to "ask for forgiveness" from his mother Arina Petrovna, and dies somewhere along his way, his frozen corpse found the next day.

A 1935 USA trade-paper reviewer called it... "an impressive and technically outstanding historical drama dealing with czarist terrorism and revolutionary boiling in the days of 1907. Picture is one of the Soviet prize winners and has particular merits in realistic performance, photography and movement, plus some musical touches in way of folk songs."

Peasant rebelling, pictures of folk anger - here accent that had to put Ivanovo in a new film. The manuscript of novel was found post mortem Pushkin in his papers. The name he did not have and remained unfinished. Intention of "Dubrovskiy" was prompted by an actual incident. A few variants of upshot of novel were saved. Ivanov became familiar with all and wrote it.

The peaceful life of an exemplary collective farm is being rent asunder by shortages and dissent, and a commissar is sent to uncover the source of the problems, unaware that their is actual sabotage involved.

Social drama about the class struggle in the Belarusian village in Polesie. The first major work in the movie VV. Merkuryev (Stas). The director of the movie was repressed in 1937. The movie has not survived.
