The life of the Bartels family is good: they buy a nice villa in the woods of Heerlen and build up a new live. When father Bartels' construction company suddenly goes bankrupt, the whole family will have to drastically change their lifestyle. The story takes a very strange twist, but is this due to financial problems or are there other things to make sure the family gets in trouble? A priest who helps the family keeping their faith helps wherever he can, but someone has to help him to save what can be saved, otherwise....?

Little boy Kees is based on the famous classical masterpiece by Theo Thijssen and deals with a twelve year old Amsterdam schoolboy who grows up at the end of the 19th century in the Jordaan (part of Amsterdam. Kees Bakels is a dreamer who seeks refuge from reality with wild imagination where he dares more than in real life.
