Kunst unserer Zeit I: Skulptur
1959
A short documentary on life in Iceland.
Gletscher und ihre Ströme
1962
The film shows the bronze door of Bernward of Hildesheim in its individual fields. The door shows Old and New Testament stages of the events of salvation: from the creation of man to the fratricide of Abel; from the angel's proclamation to Mary to the presentation of Jesus in the temple, the capture of Jesus to the encounter of the risen Christ with Mary Magdalene. Careful camera work - supported by careful lighting - succeeds in doing justice to the monumental size of the work.
Tausend Jahre nach Christi Geburt
1964
A German Film Award Gold Cup winning short documentary on the German impressionist sculptor.
Ernst Barlach 1: Der Kämpfer
1950
A short documentary on the German impressionist sculptor.
Ernst Barlach 2: Der Überwinder
1950
Hans Brüggemann, a woodcarver from the Lüneburg Heath, about whose life we know very little, presents us with an impressive work that was originally intended for the Augustinian monastery of Bordesholm in Holstein. In a winged altarpiece that is 8 meters wide with the sides open, the master has created 460 individual figures that form groups of Christ's Passion. Brüggemann created the work to the glory of God - Ad Dei Honorem. The film conveys the experience of this work in a unique way. The camera recreates the Passion of the Lord, moves from station to station, dramatizes the Passion by focusing on the figures and involves the viewer directly. In addition, there is music by Ciboli and - during the Passion - Johann Sebastian Bach, which deepens the experience.
