Anatomy of Fear explores how experiences and trauma are transformed into cinematic horror. Through interviews, it examines how fear is constructed and shaped by individual experiences.

Roberta and Ilana are sisters and reach out again to each other after their father, a violent alcoholic, dies. Antuérpia is a 70 year-old woman who lives in the neighborhood of Penha, in Rio de Janeiro's north zone, with her husband Inácio. For decades, she carries a secret within her. The fear of death and of the truth being revealed are manifested through memories of her adolescence, in the city of Nova Iguaçu, Baixada Fluminense. Seeking for Cesario, her first boyfriend, she returns to a place unseen to her eyes for many decades, from which her only vivid memories are the scent of the orange trees.
