During the American colonial period in Brgy. Paraiso, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, the American-owned Insular Lumber Company established one of the largest hardwood logging operations in the world under a government forest concession. The film follows Caloy, a young laborer sent to deliver the payroll to a hacendero’s mansion on the night a catastrophe descends upon Sagay. As it tears through the workers’ settlement, the hacendero couple remains sheltered inside their mansion.

Lourdes, a woman by the sea, waits for the arrival of her lover, Fernando, who lives in another island far from her place, with a promise of marriage and love.

A female praying mantis faces a moral dilemma when considering a romantic involvement with a playful male who, surprisingly, is aiding her in finding another mate instead of him.
