Inspired by true events that occurred during the fierce rivalry between Germany (Audi) and Italy (Lancia) at the 1983 Rally World Championships.

Italy, 1944, Montecassino. An English rifleman escapes death after a battle against a German platoon. Waking up surrounded by the corpses of his fellow soldiers, he finds himself just a few steps away from a group of enemy soldiers patrolling the battlefield. Thus begins his attempt to escape, which leads him to be a spectator of the war, but in reaching safety, he inevitably becomes a protagonist.

Diego and Gio', inseparable friends, face the battle against the disease that marks Gio's life, always finding a reason to joke. Amid laughter, and moments of deep closeness, they know their bond is facing the most painful farewell.
