When an explosion at a gas station kills a policeman, "Gebbels" from homicide is assigned to the case. The investigation leads him to the trail of a bomb maker and kidnapper, behind dozens of attacks in Poland initiating a confrontation and all-out war.

The film tells the story of Tomek Bukowski, a tariff who works on a night shift. The man has a loving wife - Ewelina. He lives a quiet life outside ... Exactly. Bukowski also has an "extraordinary passion" for which people are willing to pay him money. At one point, he receives a surprising job that changes his life.

At their beloved grandfather’s funeral wake, the family learns his lifelong lottery numbers just won, but the winning ticket lies in his jacket buried three meters underground. Racing against time and grief, they and his friends desperately try to exhume him one last time to reclaim the fortune.

Strong and independent Eliza works as the Polish teacher in a village school and begins an affair with local delinquent Stach. They have a child out of wedlock. When Stach is sent on forced labourer in Germany, Eliza and her child set off on an epic journey to be reunited with her lover.

In the 1940s, a small band of underground paramilitaries attempt to fight back against the Soviet-backed security ministry in post-war Poland. Determined to fight for their country's future, the group goes to extreme lengths to make their voice heard.
