Marcel Theroux

Unreported World is a foreign affairs programme produced by Quicksilver Media Productions and broadcast by Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. Over the course of its twenty-four series, reporters have travelled all over the world in an attempt to uncover stories usually ignored by the world media.

Hosted by Marcel Theroux, the show explores the story of Marius ‘Theo’ Gustavson, known as the Eunuch Maker; reported to be running a financial business from his home in Finsbury Park by operating and live streaming sexual organ removal surgeries online in front of audiences in their thousands. Before it hit headlines in 2022, and nine individuals were charged in March 2023, not much was known about the Nullo community. Marcel Theroux takes the audience on a journey to explore why people were motivated to join the community, and speaks to the victims as well as the consenting individuals, together with experts from around the world to give their own insight into this investigation.

The Playboy Bunny Murder will see Marcel Theroux investigate a set of disturbing murders of young women that have remained unsolved since the 1970s and reveal a dark and violent side hidden beneath the wealth and glamour of exclusive corners of London’s nightlife at that time. The journalist and filmmaker’s long-standing interest in the brutal murders, which shocked the London he grew up in, led him to return to the killings of Eve Stratford, a Playboy Bunny who aspired to be a famous model, Lynda Farrow, a croupier with years of experience working in nighttime London, and Lynne Weedon, a schoolgirl whose whole life lay ahead of her.

Marcel Theroux and Masood Khan travel to Pakistan where they meet people - including children - who have fallen foul of the country's strict blasphemy laws, and the lawyers and activists who hunt them down, determined to ensure the death penalty is carried out as a punishment.

A journalist who travels to the Falkland Islands to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a soldier in 1980 uncovers a history of historical child abuse on the island, within a secretive and uncooperative community.

Marcel Theroux travels across Japan in an attempt to understand Wabi Sabi, a theory of Japanese aesthetics in which imperfection and transience are the touchstone of beauty.
