This opulent triptych is inspired by Balanchine's visit to famous jewelry store Van Cleef & Arpels on New York’s Fifth Avenue. To honor the cities and their famous dance schools in Paris, New York and St. Petersburg, each is assigned a gem ... Balanchine succeeds in paying homage of enchanting beauty to the three dance schools that shaped his style, each represented by a high-contrast gemstone. Jewels offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the genius of the choreographer in this highly visually captivating performance performed by some of the most brilliant dancers in the world.
