The living and the dead speak of the life of a three-year-old boy.

The director travels through the Alcanena region with carte blanche to film, asking everyone he meets: if you could decide with total freedom, what would you do with your life? And he wonders: what world would emerge from the blank canvas of all individual possibilities? From bats to tanneries, from folk art to people.

In the countryside of Portugal, groups of strangers found themselves on an artistic and existential journey: the creation of a show that intersects contemporary and traditional dance. The director films these encounters over ten years. He evokes memories, dialogues with life, peeks into the unfathomable in himself and in each character. Trying to hold time, MISSISSIPIS is a manifesto on the vital importance of the encounter – with others, but also of each person with themselves.
