A small town lives its normal life. But when the first car appears there, the monotonous and boring life of the city changes and takes on new colors.

A French boy, the son of an astrophysicist, came to Armenia from Paris. His father came to work at the observatory. Friends from the pioneer camp undertake to show the guest the beauty of Yerevan. Builder Hovsep Manukyan's big and restless family hosts his old father Poghos who is forced to move from his native village. Many good and bad, funny and sad, important and unimportant events take place in the family of Hovsep, that help the older and the young to share their most valuable experience - culture of life, co-existence and devotion.

The film is set at one of the remote outposts along the southern border, where a rather strange case is being investigated: border guard Ashot Terzyan killed a dog on foreign territory. In the course of explaining his perfectly justified action (Ashot was saving a boy from the dog), the young border guard made it clear to his superiors that a border crossing was being prepared on the other side. However, he did not present any concrete arguments or justifications. The border violation was detected a few days later. And soon after, Ashot himself noticed a man at the railway station whom he had clearly seen on the other side during the ill‑fated incident with the dog.

The main character of the film is an outstanding physicist who was invited to Armenia from Russia to head a lab. He comes across many troubles in his homeland, but nevertheless finds his true love there.
