Łukasz, an unemployed geography graduate, is wrongfully arrested for robbery. His alibi is weak, and he is identified during a lineup. The situation gets hopeless when, a few hours later, the alleged victim suddenly dies. The defense lawyer promises to do everything in his power, but Łukasz ends up in custody. He must find his place in a world of harsh prison rules. He chooses the cell of the “grypsujący” (inmates who communicate by coded messages)…

After two years in prison, Adam returns home set on revenge against the uncle who betrayed him. En route, he lands a job on a highway construction site near his uncle’s village. Soon, fellow ex-con Tojfel appears and makes a chilling offer: his men will kill the uncle if Adam joins his new criminal schemes. Adam’s silence triggers a violent spiral that threatens everything he holds dear - especially his growing love for young trainee Magda.

A story about women, set in the present and in 1950s Warsaw. Sabina, a quiet, shy woman who has just turned thirty lacks a man in her life. Her mother knows all about it and tries at all costs to find her daughter a good candidate for a husband. The whole situation is controlled by the grandmother, an eccentric lady with a sharp tongue from whom no secrets can be kept.

Robert Meller and Janusz Dymek's documentary drama concerns the famous 1964 meat scandal, in which three death sentences were demanded and one was adjudicated and executed. The victim was Stanislaw Wawrzecki. Ostensibly, it was about fraud and bribes in the meat industry. In fact, it was about covering up the government's economic ineptitude, shortages of supplies and directing the people's anger at a few defendants.

August 1980, Strikes break out on the coast. The famous writer cannot decide whether to take the side of the oppositionists or wait for the course of events to unfold. A few months later, he meets an SB agent who followed him as a writer in the 1950s. They remember the Stalinist times.
