Filmed chronicle by mountain filmmaker Mario Fantin, of the 1964-1965 expedition of the Italian mountaineer Guido Monzino to the summits of Hoggar in the Algerian Sahara with the ascents of Garet el Djenoun, Tizouyag Nord, Saouinan and Iharen. The mountain ranges of the Hoggar desert turn out to be more complex and interesting than most mountaineers suspected at the time.

A diary of the Monzino expedition on the west coast of Greenland, carried out in July-August 1961. It included Guido and Franco Monzino (cousin of the manufacturer, who died in a car accident a month after the expedition), Mario Fantin, Jean Biche and the other guides of Valtournanche Pession, Antoine and Leonardo Carrel, Cerrutelli, Sartelli and Cap. Barberis, commander of the 'yacht'. It reaches the 74th parallel by plane and then travels along the coast of the island by boat. At a certain point the itinerary of the expedition underwent a forced change because the Italians had heard by radio of a mountaineering disaster affecting a group of Belgian climbers. They change course and in a generous race of human solidarity bring help to the victims.

In the spirit of a 'mountaineering safari', four Italians fly to Nairobi, the capital of Kenya and a compulsory base for both hunters of the great reserves and climbers of the great African mountains. Crossed the land of the Masai, rich in game, they, in fact, climb, in four days, up to the top of Kibo, the crater off that, with its 5895 meters, is the highest point of Kilimandjaro and all Africa. After two days of descent, they finally enter the Serengeti National Park, inside the vast crater of the Ngorongoro.

Costa d’Avorio immerses us in an entirely different scenario [from Fantin's previous film] and gives us an up-close look at another one of Fantin’s interests: ethnography, which here focuses on ritual dances encountered in each village (the expedition was funded by Augusto Fantoni, the Italian king of spring mattresses). With Preludio alpino al K2 we see the preparation for the Italian expedition to the second highest peak in the world. The men who would make history meet on Plateau Rosa, to work together among those spectacular peaks. It was also a dress rehearsal for Fantin, who had never ventured so high up with a movie camera.
