In 1932 Shanghai, a resistance leader and a gangster join forces to eliminate a Japanese military strategist. Their mission leads to violent encounters, public uprising, and ultimate sacrifice in the fight for freedom.

A sudden tsunami came as a shock, trapping Jiang Peng and his daughter, Jiang Xiao Hu, in Chinatown of Southeast Asia. The two of them, with other inhabitants, took a brace to fight against the terrible monster that followed. However, after the life-and-death struggle, they found surprisingly a man-made calamity instead of a natural disaster.

Yang Jian, a young man born with a vision, has suffered from the coldness and discrimination of the villagers since he was a child. One day, however, Yang Jian’s mother, Fairy Yunhua, dies while fighting to protect the lives of the world’s enemies. After experiencing all this, Yang Jian’s daily life becomes so painful that he learns that the only way to defeat the gods and find the truth and save his mother is to open the seal and regain his divinity. Yang Jian is guided around by his companion, the deer robe, to find a way to do this, and finally learns under the tutelage of the Jade Emperor. After going through the ordeal of dying and then being born, Yang Jian eventually opens his vision to the heavenly eye of divine punishment, and his cultivation grows by leaps and bounds, taking in the snarling dogs, defeating the gods, and finally attaining nirvana, becoming a saint in the flesh and sealing the gods in one battle.

After years of traveling the land performing operas, the seasoned Lao Jixiang Troupe faces a crisis when their star performer Zhuo Ran loses his lover Kong Yu in a tragic accident during one of their adventures. Devastated, Zhuo Ran abandons the troupe. Years later, he is forced to return when a fellow member is struck by a mysterious poison. To find the antidote, Zhuo Ran must lead the troupe on a perilous journey filled with bizarre occurrences and unforeseen dangers. As they press on, he unravels a sinister conspiracy that ensnares them all. Through a desperate final struggle, Zhuo Ran guides the troupe to secure the antidote and cheat death. In the aftermath, he forms the New Jixiang Troupe, leading everyone toward a new beginning.

The film is based on seven true stories from the front line of poverty alleviation. These seven stories reflect the different strategies of poverty alleviation models of the country in the context of the general era: insurance poverty alleviation, green poverty alleviation, education poverty alleviation, rural e-commerce poverty alleviation, employment poverty alleviation, industrial poverty alleviation and technology poverty alleviation.

In this alternative universe, women are the rulers and fighters due to the inability of men to resist and fight against the Black Witches spell. In a raid against one of the Black Witch lair, the third princess Lan Xi saves Chao Sheng's life and he instantly fell in love with her. He followed her to the main capital and trained as a dancer to the royal family in a bid to meet her again. However, an assassination plot to kill the empress during a royal banquet changes Chao Sheng's plan and separate them further. With an impending war with the Black Witch's undead army, both of them need to survive the courts' politics and the gruel battlefield.
