She is a Turkish photographer, writer and director, known for Winter Sleep (2014), Once Upon a Time in Anatolia (2011) and The Wild Pear Tree (2018). She studied film and television at Marmara University and Mimar Sinan University. She is married to Nuri Bilge Ceylan.
