Romy Boutin St-Pierre

Amato is about the diversity of polyamorous models in the Quebec portrait. Three unique and interrelated stories are staged through performing arts.

Through tango, mirror of our society and its changes, pre-established heteronormative roles are challenged.

Two women meet at a bus stop in Morocco, on an almost deserted highway. One is veiled, the other is not. They are smitten at first sight and judge each other. Time passes by, the bus doesn't arrive. Alone and desperate in the middle of nowhere, they gradually open up and show their vulnerabilities. Between friction and mutual support, Sara and Fatima drop their masks to reveal their inner struggles and unite in the face of the aggression hanging over them.

Seven-year-old Anna admires her mother, who is both victim and aggressor in her tumultuous relationships. Through a forbidden tube of lipstick, the little girl tells herself the imaginary story of a trapped princess: a fantastic fairytale in her eyes, but also the distressing reflection of her mother’s reality.

The only thing colder than a Canadian winter is Canadian bureaucracy (probably). Based on five real life stories, Romy Boutin St-Pierre and Joe Nadeau pay homage to the nation-wide stress headache of phone calls with the government in this surprising short.
