Tom returns to his small hometown for a weekend after a tragedy befalls him and his former friends.

For years, Will has been able to control time, turning back the clocks a minute or two on rare occasion. Despite believing he understands it, Will’s perspective of his ability changes when he meets the equally gifted Nissa, who introduces him to a world where he’s not the only powered being.

As Nissa continues to explore the history of the Rooks, she meets someone eerily similar to herself.

Two years ago, Nissa Arnson's infallible interpretation of the future was challenged for the first time, and she spared a man's life. Now she investigates a new adversary with fewer Rooks and far more to lose, while Will Augustine fears for his future and struggles to maintain his integrity as an Alterer. As their paths cross again, long-hidden and terrifying secrets begin to come to light.

In a fictional 1990s sitcom, Michael, Alex, Edi, and Doris the dog test superpowers and get themselves into trouble.
