Babak's asylum application has been rejected, and he has been sent to one of the state's new motivation centers with his eight-year-old son Ahmed. They can either stay there or voluntarily return to their home country. Father and son end up in limbo, which has serious consequences for Ahmed's health.

A man has died in his home in a small parallel community. The leader, John, is on the dock but claims it was suicide, and further argues that it was the right thing to do. His daughter disagrees, someone has called the police and a hard-working investigative duo, played by Mathias Bøgelund and Marie Mondrup, do their best to get to the bottom of what is really going on out there.

What have you spent your time on, and has the time been spent well enough? Alexander has to undergo heart surgery and thinks about what he would regret not having done if his life ended during the operation. In a documentary, the director creates a reflective self-portrait.
