The film tells us how university vacations changed our protagonist's life. The vacations took him home, as they did every year, but that year he was overcome by the vertigo of passion, culminating in a marriage proposal. However, the Sociedade Gastronómica de Lisboa resists and apparently is one of the strongest bastions of the monarchy. A young member, Dr. Duarte Rodrigues, decides to run for president, held by the mysterious Prositt, who made his fortune in Africa.
