Giza and her husband Erwin struggle to make ends meet in their Silesian mining-town home after Erwin loses his job and faces humiliating demands at the employment office. When Giza befriends the well-off Monika, she’s offered work at a nightclub - first cleaning, then a shocking ultimatum: turn to prostitution or leave.

Seventeen-year-old Sergei feels completely misunderstood in his immediate environment. Some of his aunts mistake him for his cousin, his older brother Remigius does not even open his mouth towards him, while his father would very much like to make him a world-famous boxer. The boy escapes into the world of fantasy, which is the greatest of his passions. During one of the fantasy field games Sergei becomes a hero, which brings unexpected consequences.

Katowice, the night of December 12-13, 1981. Military units occupy strategic points in the city. A group of Zomovniks, smashing union security, drags the chairman of the Company Commission of the NSZZ Solidarity in the Wujek mine out of his apartment. The news quickly spreads to the miners. Initially surprised, they soon react with spontaneous protest. On December 14, a strike breaks out at the plant. The miners demand the lifting of martial law and the release of the chairman. When negotiations fail, the army, ZOMO and militia storm the mine.

The story of the late 90s generation and the three friends behind the music: Magik, Fokus and Rahim. The fact-based film charts the relentless struggle for success of Paktofonika, against the backdrop of crumbling traditional values in dreary 90s Silesia.

Lives of three different people living in a small Silesian town intersect.

Michał is among the soldiers quartered in a village near Lublin. By accident, he goes to the palace and visits the magnificent building, where he meets a widow Maria. Meanwhile, local peasants do not want to wait for the start of land reform. They appoint their own committee and want to deal with the division of property themselves.

The miner leaves the mine and tries to start a new life.
