Tuulepealne maa is a twelve-part Estonian television mini-series about the pre-World War II history of Estonia, its birth as a country, the Estonian War of Independence, post-war life throughout 1920 up to 1941 and World War II.

In a humorous tone, "Ment" (Russian criminals called militiamen in Soviet-era slang) tells the story of the daily life of an ordinary police officer.

When the brutally murdered mother of drug addict Alina (30) is found on the beach one day, the question arises whether Alina is a coldblooded manipulator or a lifelong victim of abuse.

Two completely opposite young ladies are forced to work together and solve very different cases. Kadri (Kristel Aaslaid), who takes police work extremely seriously, and Doris (Grete Kuld), who skilfully manipulates her good looks and feminine charms, want to prove to each other that their methods are the best way to make a career in a man's world.

Children are left at grandma's house without their smartphones. Real life seems rather boring until they find instructions for the Kratt - a magical creature who will do whatever its master says. All they have to do now, is to buy a soul from the devil.

30-year old Kertu has lived under her father's power her whole life. Because of her gentle nature, she is thought by locals to be a little simple-minded. The young woman makes her first timid attempt to change something in her life - she send a postcard to Villu, a handsome but degenerate village drunk.
