Reşit moves from his village to Istanbul with his wife in order to become rich. He goes to the home of his distant relative Selahattin. However, Selahattin's wife does not allow him to stay in their home. Unable to get the help he hoped for from his friend, Reşit will become rich when he least expects it.

Reşit Ağa wants to distribute his inheritance because he is getting old. He decides to divide his property between his only child, Şahabettin, and his nephews. However, he first wants his nephews to change in certain ways. He appoints his son Şahabettin as an observer to monitor this change.
