A family struggles to have a worthy home, but circumstances go against them.

Karlag, short for Karaganda Corrective Labor Camp, was one of the largest labor camps within the Soviet Gulag system. Established in 1931, it was located in the Karagandy Region of Kazakhstan. The film will explore the hardships faced by people during the 1930s-1950s and the resilience of human dignity despite the daily struggle for survival. The atmosphere of Karlag will be conveyed through costumes, props, and sets created after extensive research in archives and museums.

In a stable in the middle of drought-scorched fields, a peasant ties and gags two politicians from opposite parties. He wants to know what they've done with the environmental funds, but on one condition: only one politician can speak at a time.

Filmed over the course of 2013 to 2019, it is a photograph of the scars left by the Great Recession in Spain. Who are the losers of this crisis? Young people, women, workers between 35 and 45 who will never again be what they trained to be, those over 45 who have lost their jobs, retirees who see their purchasing power shrink, the “emotional proletariat”… and this film is about them.

Fast forward to 2023, Julio and his team are determined to replicate the experiment, hoping to capture the supernatural on film—but as they delve deeper, they risk unleashing a darkness far beyond their control.
