Two years after the end of the war, Anna is raising her two sons all by herself. After her husband suddenly comes back from captivity, the boys struggle to get used to the father they have nearly forgotten.

Andrei, nicknamed Red, is a young drug dealer, trawling hotel corridors, selling little bags of hits to hookers and businessmen alike. Shrewd and tough, he has seen more than his fair share of life. But he has a problem - a rival gang, the Abreks, have moved into his territory and are forcing prices down. Andrei is a loner, attached to no one, but he is smart. He knows a member of a rival gang, Peaky, who runs with the X-Rays. Andrei manages to get them some "rods" - guns - and concocts his plan to run the Abreks out of his area.

Казалось бы, фильмов с рефлексирующими героями хватает, однако - первый фильм о российской буржуазии, первая честная попытка разобраться в феноменологии нового класса, к тому же снятый в подлинных, апартаментах, дорогих ресторанах и клубах, а не в картонных декорациях. Почему у, казалось бы, успешных, состоявшихся людей так часто замечаешь пустой, потухший взгляд, - задается вопросом автор сценария, писательница Наталия Вико. Всем знакомая тема одиночества современной обеспеченной женщины открывается по-новому.
