After ratting out his Mafia cohorts, Giovanni Manzoni and his family enter the Witness Protection Program and relocate to a sleepy town in France. Despite the best efforts of their handler to keep them in line, Giovanni (now called Fred Blake), his wife and children can't help but resort to doing things the "family" way. However, their dependence on such old habits places everyone in danger from vengeful mobsters.

When his longtime girlfriend breaks up with him, 30 year-old Michael suddenly finds himself homeless. With nowhere else to go, he spends the weekend at his father and stepmothers house, only to find that they're embroiled in a bitter divorce. As he gets caught in the middle of their angry disputes, Michael struggles to come to terms with his place in his dysfunctional family.

Christian, a poor teen in the 1980's suburbia, is employed as a gardener by his new neighbor, Geena, a trashy but beautiful woman in her mid twenties. Working for her, he suddenly discovers a purpose for life: allowing his growing love for Geena to show through his care for her garden. When Gena recognizes the level of his devotion, a moment of reckoning will transform them in ways neither could have anticipated.
