Hamburg 1962, you dream in English and only understand German. The four boys in Claude-Oliver Rudolph's film "The Wonderbeats" work as lifeguards or in the pigsty and play a hot beat in the evenings. This is the story of the most successful German beat band. It's called THE WONDERBEATS in our film. The events from 1962 to 1967 are described. During this time the band had 15 hits in the German charts.

Horst Valfelt, deputy manager of a medium-sized bank branch in West Berlin, is passed over for promotion. A woman is put in front of him as branch manager. A serious blow to Valfelt's career. One day, his former fellow student Thomas Berthold appears at the bank. He has achieved everything Valfelt dreams of: a degree, a highly remunerated and influential position and an attractive wife. Berthold wants to start his own business and asks for a loan. Valfelt cockily promises to get him a loan on particularly favorable terms.

This film is the theatrical follow-up to a very popular German TV-series (also called "Anna"), about a young girl who wants to make it as a prima ballerina.
