White Nights is a 1992 Russian film directed by Leonid Kvinikhidze based on the novel of the same name by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. The events of the picture are moved to the present day, the 1990s.

Unfolding over two days in 1924, the film depicts the dying Lenin, world revolutionary and father of the USSR, now powerless and isolated at his Gorki estate. Cared for by his wife, Nadezhda Krupskaia, sister Maniasha, his German doctor and several attendants, Lenin raves about his diminishing faculties, discusses the deaths of great figures (including Marx), rides a car to a picnic in a meadow and ponders his historic legacy.

A Finn preparing a work on the Russian hunting traditions and customs, comes to Russia to collect materials and is invited to take part in a hunting party. Lenfilm's most recent major production spins a kind of historical fantasy based on real incidents that's full of ominous implications for today. Soon, it seems that everyone who can is trying to hatch some kind of plot against him - including his own sons. The young man too much in love so he looses his head and goes directly to the nest of vampires.
