At a luxury seaside hotel, Karl and Emilie are preparing for their son’s naming party, when Karl’s estranged mother, Vibeke, suddenly turns up uninvited. Karl want’s her gone, but his sister, Rikke, insists there won’t be any issues. Over one tense weekend, old patterns and buried wounds surface in front of in-laws and guests — until the celebration fractures into a collision.

Christian and Malene are lovers. Although they are both only in their mid 20s, they have been a couple for a long time since they got together as teenagers. They have reached a point in life where a new phase has begun: adulthood. The pressure from their surroundings is starting to create doubt in both of them, and the question is whether they should be together at all.

Acclaimed theater director Erik Werner is setting up a stage play dramatizing memories from his marriage to his wife Juliane who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. During the process Erik discovers that he and Juliane have had vastly different experiences of their shared life together. Experiences that will make Erik see his marriage in a new light.
