Nadezhda Kovalyova

Khlestakov is a young flamboyant crook, who is broke. He finds himself in a small Russian town, where local authorities are waiting for an undercover inspector from the capital St. Petersburg. Khlestakov is mistaken for an undercover inspector, and uses the situation for taking bribes from the local governor and flirting with both his wife and daughter. He abuses the corruption and hypocrisy of the local authorities until, at the end, the real inspector shows up.

In the city hairdressers' school there are exams. The incapable pupil Kukushkina, having spoiled everything on the head of the next client, asks her suitor - the stylist Edik - to sit in her chair. In love, Edik agrees, and says goodbye to his stylish coke for a long time.

Vetlugin, a worker at a Ural factory, becomes a member of the Moscow soccer team "Turbina". The captain and center forward Vitaly Grinko, known to the whole country, is jealous of the newcomer and tries to defame the simple-minded player. The whole team takes the side of the newcomer, criticizes the captain's behavior, and wins in the game with a foreign team.

Tanya Morozova, an illiterate but industrious textile factory worker, finds happiness through her education and the Stakhanovite movement. She becomes a shock labourer and ascends through the Party ranks, ultimately being elected as a member of the Supreme Soviet.

After graduation, Nadia Kulagina comes to work in a school where she once studied. After her appearance, the most hopeless student Dimka Lopatin, who was even wanted to be expelled from school, becomes one of the best students and a faithful friend of the new class teacher.

August 1941. Residents of the Ural town escorted to the front of men. Left alone, women take on the most difficult cases, showing outstanding organizational skills and will.
