Petros Epitropakis

A beautiful Athenian lady (Lida Miranta), who spends the summer in Hydra, falls in love with a fisherman (Lampros Konstantaras) and “steals him” from his girlfriend (Evgenia Danika) to turn him into a singer at Athenian nightclubs.

The film, with many scenes shot on location, constitutes a precious document as it exquisitely captures some of the most important landmarks of Athens and its outskirts, as well as daily life in the 1930s. synchronise moving images with a sound-ondisc system in Greece, using a semiimprovised setup according to press coverage of the time.

The story refers to a group of people struggling to improve their lives, but their strenuous efforts encounter insurmountable obstacles and often end in tragedy, as luck smiles on them occasionally, but without any real reward.
