Thelyia Petraki

Just before the Berlin Wall came tumbling down, at the end of the Cold War. Everything is changing in front of Anthi’s eyes and Christos seems to be changing too. Bella is the story of a moment in time recreated as if in a feverish dream where fiction and documentary overlap perfectly, creating a striking and emotional cinematographic universe.

After a lesson about cosmic archaeologists and a water-fight in the schoolyard, Elly steals Faye’s soul and Faye gives Elly a rare birthday present. But then when the night falls, under a sky full of stars a song from the past will remind the girls that nothing really lasts forever.

A woman, her doctor, a piano student, a man, his wife and a cat. What connects these people? What separates them? Who is Helga? Where is Lund?

It is that moment in life when someone realizes the world is far from perfect. The story is about a girl who is sentenced by the Court of Law to be buried alive. Everyone around her feels very comfortable with this idea. She, on the other hand, is the only one with commonsense.
