But a complete surprise for the lieutenant was the arrival of his former lover Vyacheslav to his wife.

Bessarabia on the eve of World War II... Soldier Ștefan Brebu is being taken to trial in a prison car as a witness. The escorts were ordered to shoot him on the way "at attempt to escape." A soldier can give testimony in court that is undesirable for the authorities: it was not communists who were shooting at unarmed peasants...

At the end of 1943, during the occupation in Odessa, a new specialist Kraft arrives at the shipyard and soon becomes a chief engineer. It never occurred to anyone that a Soviet intelligence officer was hiding under the guise of a leader showing official zeal. At the decisive moment, when the victorious offensive of the Soviet troops forces the German-Romanian invaders to leave Odessa, on the instructions of the Center, Kraft leaves with them for further work behind enemy lines.

The film brings back to the screen another page of the underground youth struggle against the fascist occupiers of Moldova — the Romanian Cigurans.
