A retelling of the stories of Germany's Hansel and Gretel, Syria's the Woodcutter's Wealthy Sister, the Philippines' Pedro and the Monster, Germany's Rapunzel, Malta's Fenchelchen, and Israel's the Princess in the Tower

A young American couple inherits an English castle, only to find that it is haunted by the spirit of a disgraced ancestor, doomed to stay on the estate because of his cowardice. The only way he can escape is if one of his descendants performs an heroic act, something he intends to get the husband to do.

When little Lucy wishes it were Christmas every day, "forever and ever", her dad tells the cautionary tale of her grandmother Tilly, who, as a little girl, made the very same wish, and the dire consequences that occurred after her wish was granted.
