This dramatic production by the brilliant German stage director Harry Kupfer marked Daniel Barenboim's appointment as the artistic director of the Berlin State Opera in 1992. The streets of Los Angeles are being littered with murdered prostitutes, as a sinister killer tempts desperate women into dangerous traps.

Models all over town are ending up on the wrong side of a razor-sharp blade, and police are baffled by the surgical precision of the corpse mutilation. David, a local photographer who knew a couple of the murdered women, finds his world turn upside down as the streets run red with blood.
