In the 1960s, the lives of three college classmates, Ismail, Zainab, and Helmy, take a dark turn when the three of them are arrested and tortured as part of the repressive and violent practices that were employed by the General Intelligence Directorate back then.

A juvenile reform prison hires a psychologist, Dr. Essmat, to help in the reformation and rehabilitation of the girls in the prison. As he studies their cases and tries to find solutions for their problems, the compassionate Dr. Essmat is confronted with the numerous problems that led the girls to be imprisoned. When one of the girls claims that he raped her he finds himself in trouble with the prison administration, but when she reveals the truth the girls take a different view towards Dr. Essmat and try to help him achieve his goals in reforming them.

Gamal sings at local weddings. His brother Salah, a chemist, tries to convince him to quit drugs and gives him some weed that is made out of harmless substances. When a drug dealer grows impressed by Salah's formula, Salah succumbs to the temptation of money.

Prisoner Adham makes a deal with fellow inmate Saad, a businessman who has been accused of stealing 700 million Egyptian Pounds, to work for him as his wife Aisha’s bodyguard. Aisha falls in love Adham. Kathem, Saad’s friend figures this out, and informs him. Saad discovers his wife’s betrayal and fabricates an accusation of Adham. They attempt to escape prison with the money they’ve stolen, except that Adham is thwarted by an obstacle along the way.

Wajih heads to Alexandria and lives in one of the apartments there, despite the owner’s objection at first because he is single. Then engineer Anwar, who is going through special circumstances, joins him in the residence.
