In 1990, at the dawn of the political events that changed the map of Europe, a little girl, in the Eastern Block, waits impatiently for the return of her mother, from a secret space mission. Or, that's what her father tells her .

In order to strengthen his connections on the street, a young man has to participate in a violent robbery. But, after surviving the war between street gangs, he becomes the main target of law enforcement and a ruthless mobster.

Frank and Lou are brothers, running the family's bakery, a fixture in their Bronx neighborhood since 1921. Lou loves it, but the rest of his life is in tatters: he lives alone, bets on the horses, and owes a loan shark. Frank, older, married, and always responsible, wants to get out of the bakery and pursue other dreams. Things come to a head on the day Lou's marker comes due and Frank announces big news. They find themselves reflecting on the life choices they've made.

A man who has a heart in his head feels he needs to destroy that heart by shooting in his head. The heart would not be the only thing destroyed.

After meeting with a dozen of gangsters, Will Parker will try to define the essence of the "Life", in the streets of New York. The task seems easy to fulfill, but, separating truth form fiction becomes harder, as he tries to understand the real nature of a gangster. One of them, in particular, becomes the protagonist of the stories told on the camera. As Parker is investigating the testimony of a murder and a revenge, past stories of violence and survival will surface.
