Ona Knapkytė

A movie based on the stories by Antanas Vienuolis.

Late 19th century England. Relatives and guests gather at the country house of retired Colonel Houp. From London, where she lives as a "live-in" (her husband has left the country for a long time), comes the still young Molly Gwyn, followed by Morris Lever, the object of a flirtation that risks turning into an affair.

A drama based on the novel "Kvietimas". The director of the local history museum, Adamonis, has everything that, in his opinion, an employee of this rank should have: a seemingly prosperous family, employees who seem to respect him, and even a mistress. In addition, he is patronized by the first secretary of the district party committee. Hoping for a future career in Vilnius, Adamonis decided to give his benefactor one of the museum’s valuable exhibits. But new people came to the leadership of the district, demanding people who did not tolerate showing off or flattery, and Adamonis’s ambitious dreams were never destined to come true.

The film covers the events in Lithuania in 1940-1945 and tells about the life of the Lithuanian intelligentsia. The characters are placed in crisis situations, when the problem of choosing a path, the problem of social and historical self-determination of the fate of the people and each person inevitably arises.
