The happy life of eminent author Lahari Mukherjee turns upside down when on their first marriage anniversary her husband goes missing and Inspector Dibyendu Bakshi is appointed to investigate the disappearance of Apurba.

A group comes to a village resort for a day's outing. Melange of people of different age groups with their pranks, frolics, idiosyncrasies and pasts. In the village they come to know about a legend. There is a large water body called Torulatar Dighi, where the ghost of Torulata larks beneath the dark water and kills boys. And the group,which is supposed to return to Kolkata that evening, gets stranded in the resort owing to a road block.

The phoenix highlights a couple of issues with its unique twist and turn drama- dementia and it's effect upon the people who are suffering it and the suffering of the people, who are accompanying them, who loves them. 2 nd issue is the aspirations of the generation, their hope, disappointment, anxiety and their self-harming suicidal tendencies when they can't reach to their goals. But it's not a dark story. It's a fight back story of a girl, by the help of her friend, philosopher, and guide- who is a psychotherapist and psychologist.
